It was March 2017 when we first opened the door of 45 Matrozou str. and began repairing the building so that it could house our struggles, desires, needs and bodies. And when these, a few months later, could no longer fit in one building we opened two more buildings that were rotting abandoned in the neighborhood of Koukaki, 21 Panaitoliou str. and the Blue House (3 Arvali str.). This is how Koukaki Squats Community was created in the center of Athens.

From then until 2020, Koukaki Squats Community had been a political community that combined anarchist struggle with communal life. The doors of its houses were open for those who wished to fight back against state violence and injustice, for people who needed shelter or wished to use its public structures, for those who sought a collective way of life. It was also an open political and social space accessible to the inhabitants of one of the most gentrified neighborhoods in Athens. Τhe community participated in struggles of the squatting and anti-fascist movement, in solidarity with political prisoners, against gender violence, patriarchy, racism, exploitation of nature, against the gentrification of the neighborhood and the privatization of the nearby Philopappos Hill. In addition to political assemblies and events that were hosted, a number of public structures were operating in the houses, such as a lending library,public baths & laundries and a free clothing bazaar.

Our political position and action had been the reason why we faced arson attacks from fascist groups several times, as well as the state repression. The last one occurred in the form of evictions in three waves, 2018, 2019 and 2020, when at last the community lost the buildings once and for all. On all occasions the community mounted combative resistance to state attacks and tried to reoccupy the buildings.

The repressive forces used rubber bullets, flash grenades, physical violence and chemical weapons in the buildings and throughout the neighborhood, in response to our resistance. Neighbors and comrades that stood in solidarity were arrested as well. Most of the evictions led to courts with plenty of accusations, intending to intimidate the squatters while exhausting them psychologically and economically. 

We should refer especially to the last eviction of Matrozou building in 2020, when the cops hired lawyers (including a member of the government) to support the charges in court. The court of first degree convicted our comrades to 6,5 years of imprisonment without suspension, based on 3 misdemeanor charges. Τhis was the result of a great mediatic campaign carried on by the state, where even the president of greece was publicly asking for the felony "attempt of murder" to be charged to the detainees. The sentence is only suspended until the appeal court. It's the first time in history of Greece that squatters are at risk of going to prison, and the first time that political activists in general are at risk of going to prison without being charged with felonies. The appeal court will be happening on December 2, 2025, and we call the international squatting and anarchist movement to solidarity action for political support.

We believe that this maneuver serves the government's purpose to eliminate the squatting movement in Greece, when at the same time inaugurates a "new reality" - connected to the New Penal Code, 2024 - where anyone who resists may be imprisoned for any charge.

For all the court cases we have gone through [which are 5 in number] we have already paid more than 10.000 euros of expenses, which have been covered by solidarity events we organized, as well as through the contribution of the comradeship of collectives and individuals. Two out of five court cases ended with an acquittal, but the rest three led to conviction and they have been appealed to a higher court. 

We are now called upon to solve the problem of covering the court costs for the remaining three cases, which are estimated to total an enormous amount of 25.000 euros. This includes court fees, lawyers' fees, as well as the court expenses in case of final conviction. For this reason we created this campaign to inform comrades and collectives in Greece and abroad, as all kinds of contribution and solidarity are important. We are available to share more details on court expenses or/and the progress of the cases. We are also open to remotely support any initiative of organizing informative events about the squats and state repression against them.

We are here and we will keep fighting. Solidarity is our weapon !

To Μάρτιο του 2017 ανοίξαμε για πρώτη φορά την πόρτα της Ματρόζου 45 και ξεκινήσαμε να επισκευάζουμε το κτίριο, για να στεγάσουμε τα σώματά μας, τους αγώνες, τις ανάγκες και τις επιθυμίες μας. Όταν μερικούς μήνες μετά ένα σπίτι δεν ήταν αρκετό για να τις χωρέσει, ανοίξαμε δύο ακόμη εγκαταλελειμμενα κτίρια που σάπιζαν στη γειτονιά του Κουκακίου: την Παναιτωλίου 21 και το Μπλε Σπίτι (Αρβάλη 3). Έτσι δημιουργήθηκε η Κοινότητα Καταλήψεων Κουκακίου.

Από τότε και ως το 2020, η κοινότητα αποτέλεσε ένα πολιτικό εγχείρημα όπου η κοινοτική ζωή ενώθηκε με τον αναρχικό αγώνα. Οι πόρτες των σπιτιών ήταν ανοιχτές για όσες επιθυμούσαν να αγωνιστούν ενάντια στην αδικία και την κρατική βία, για όσα χρειάζονταν καταφύγιο ή ήθελαν να χρησιμοποιήσουν τις δημόσιες δομές τους, για όσους αναζητούσαν ένα συλλογικό τρόπο ζωής. Αποτέλεσε ακόμη έναν πολιτικό και κοινωνικό χώρο, ανοιχτό στους κατοίκους μιας από τις πιο εξευγενισμένες γειτονιές της Αθήνας. Η κοινότητα συμμετείχε σε αγώνες του καταληψιακού και αντιφασιστικού κινήματος, σε καμπάνιες αλληλεγγύης με πολιτικούς κρατούμενους, σε δράσεις ενάντια στην έμφυλη βία, την πατριαρχία, το ρατσισμό, την εκμετάλλευση της φύσης, και ενάντια στον εξευγενισμό της γειτονιάς και την ιδιωτικοποίηση του λόφου Φιλοπάππου. Εκτός από τις πολιτικές συνελεύσεις και εκδηλώσεις που φιλοξενούνταν, στους χώρους των καταλήψεων λειτουργούσαν και μια σειρά από δημόσιες δομές, όπως δανειστική βιβλιοθήκη, δημόσια λουτρά και πλυντήρια και μπαζάρ ρούχων με ελεύθερη συνεισφορά.

Η πολιτική μας τοποθέτηση και δράση ήταν ο λόγος για τον οποίο βρεθήκαμε στο στόχαστρο της κρατικής καταστολής, αλλά και εμπρηστικών επιθέσεων από παρακρατικές φασιστικές γκρούπες.Το κράτος επιχείρησε να εκκενώσει τις καταλήψεις τρεις φορές, το 2018, το 2019 και το 2020, όταν τελικά τα σπίτια έκλεισαν μια για πάντα. Οι δυνάμεις καταστολής χρησιμοποίησαν πλαστικές σφαίρες, βόμβες κρότου-λάμψης, ξύλο και χημικά μέσα στα κτίρια, αλλά και στη γειτονιά, ενώ συνέλαβαν γειτόνισσες και αλληλέγγυους που βρέθηκαν εκεί για να στηρίξουν. Σε όλες τις περιπτώσεις υπήρξε μαχητική υπεράσπιση, και έγιναν προσπάθειες ανακατάληψης. Οι περισσότερες από τις εκκενώσεις οδήγησαν σε δικαστήρια με πληθώρα κατηγοριών, σε μια προσπάθεια εκφοβισμού, ψυχολογικής και οικονομικής μας εξόντωσης.

Θα πρέπει να αναφερθούμε ειδικά στην τελευταία εκκένωση της Ματρόζου το 2020, όταν οι μπάτσοι προσέλαβαν δικηγόρους (μεταξύ αυτών και τον -τότε βουλευτή, μετέπειτα υπουργό της κυβέρνησης- Θ.Πλεύρη) για να παρασταθούν ως πολιτική αγωγή στο δικαστήριο. Εντωμεταξύ, τα μίντια είχαν επιδοθεί σε μία καμπάνια αναβάθμισης των κατηγοριών στο κακούργημα της “απόπειρας δολοφονίας”, για την οποία είχε τοποθετηθεί μέχρι και ο πρωθυπουργός. Το δικαστήριο καταδίκασε πρωτόδικα τα συντρόφια σε 6,5 χρόνια φυλάκισης χωρίς αναστολή, για 3 κατηγορίες πλημμεληματικού χαρακτήρα. Η ποινή αναστάλθηκε μόνο μέχρι το εφετείο. Είναι η πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία της χώρας που καταληψίες κινδυνεύουν να μπουν φυλακή, και η πρώτη φορά που αγωνιστές γενικότερα κινδυνεύουν να μπουν φυλακή με πλημμεληματικές κατηγορίες.

Το εφετείο θα γίνει στις 2 Δεκεμβρίου 2025 και καλούμε το διεθνές καταληψιακό και αναρχικό κίνημα σε δράσεις αλληλεγγύης για πολιτική υποστήριξη.

Θεωρούμε ότι αυτή η τακτική εξυπηρετεί τους σκοπούς της κυβέρνησης να διαλύσει το καταληψιακό κίνημα, εγκαινιάζοντας τη “νέα πραγματικότητα” που φέρνει ο Νέος Ποινικός Κώδικας του 2024, σύμφωνα με τον οποίο οποιοσδήποτε αντιστέκεται θα κινδυνεύει να μπει φυλακή. 

Για όλες τις δικαστικές μας υποθέσεις (5 στο σύνολο) έχουμε ήδη καλύψει έξοδα πάνω από 10.000 ευρώ, τα οποία συγκεντρώθηκαν από εκδηλώσεις αλληλεγγύης, και από την αλληλέγγυα συνεισφορά συντροφικών ομάδων και ατόμων. Δύο από τις υποθέσεις μας κατέληξαν σε αθώωση των συλληφθέντων, οι υπόλοιπες τρεις ωστόσο είχαν καταδικαστικές αποφάσεις, και γι’ αυτές έχει ασκηθεί έφεση. 

Αυτή τη στιγμή καλούμαστε να λύσουμε το πρόβλημα της κάλυψης του κόστους των δικαστηρίων που έρχονται, το οποίο ανέρχεται στο αστρονομικό ποσό των 25.000 ευρώ. Σ’ αυτό περιλαμβάνονται δικαστικά παράβολα, αμοιβές δικηγόρων, καθώς και τα δικαστικά έξοδα σε περίπτωση καταδίκης (μέχρι 1200/άτομο με το νόμο Φλωρίδη, τα οποία ήδη έχουν επιδικαστεί για τους καταδικασθέντες του 2018). Γι’ αυτό το λόγο δημιουργήσαμε αυτή την καμπάνια οικονομικής ενίσχυσης, για να ενημερώσουμε συντρόφους και συλλογικότητες στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, αφού κάθε είδους συνεισφορά και κίνηση αλληλεγγύης είναι πολύ σημαντική. Είμαστε διαθέσιμα να μοιραστούμε λεπτομέρειες για τα έξοδα ή/και για την εξέλιξη των υποθέσεων μας, όπως επίσης και για να στηρίξουμε οποιαδήποτε πρωτοβουλία για εκδήλωση με θέμα τις καταλήψεις και την καταστολή τους.

Im März 2017 öffneten wir zum ersten Mal die Türen der Hausnummer 45 in der Matrozou Straße und begannen sogleich das Gebäude zu renovieren, sodass es ein Haus für unsere Kämpfe, Wünsche, Bedürfnisse und uns selbst wurde. Einige Monate später, als diese Bedürfnisse wuchsen und der Platz zu eng wurde, öffneten wir zwei weitere Gebäude in der Nachbarschaft Koukaki, die seit Jahren verrotteten. Panaitoliou Str. 21 und das "Blue House" (Arvali Str. 3). So entstand die "Koukaki Squats Community" (KSC) im Athener Zentrum. 

Bis 2020 war die Koukaki Squats Community eine politische Gemeinschaft, die anarchistische Kämpfe mit kollektivem Leben verband. Die Türen ihrer Häuser standen all jenen offen, die gewillt waren, gegen die staatliche Gewalt und Ungerechtigkeit zurückzuschlagen. Für Leute, die eine Unterkunft brauchten oder ihre offenen sozialen Strukturen nutzen wollten. Für jene, die nach einer kollektiven Lebensweise suchten. Sie war ein offener politischer und sozialer Raum, zugänglich für die Bewohner*innen einer der am meisten gentrifizierten Nachbarschaften von Athen. Die Community nahm an Hausbesetzungen teil, an antifaschistischen Kämpfen, an Solidaritätsaktionen für politische Gefangene, gegen genderspezifische Gewalt, Patriarchat, Rassismus und Ausbeutung der Natur, gegen die Gentrifizierung der Nachbarschaft und die Privatisierung des nahegelegenen Filopapou Hügels. Zusätzlich zu den politischen Versammlungen und Veranstaltungen, die in den Häusern stattfanden, wurden auch einige öffentliche Strukturen aufgebaut. Darunter eine Leihbibliothek, ein öffentliches Bad mit Waschmaschine und ein Umsonstladen. 

Unsere politische Position und unsere Aktionen waren die Gründe, weshalb wir mehrfach von faschistischen Brandanschlägen und Repression betroffen waren. Letzteres vor allem im Rahmen von drei Räumungswellen 2018, 2019 und 2020, nach deren letzter wir die Häuser nicht mehr wiederbesetzen konnten. Bei jeder Räumung leistete die Community militanten Widerstand gegen den Staatlichen Angriff und versuchte danach die Gebäude wiederzubesetzen. Als Antwort auf unseren Widerstand benutzten die Repressionskräfte Gummischrot, Blend-Schock Granaten, Physische Gewalt und Chemische Waffen (CS-Gas) mit der sie die Häuser und die ganze Nachbarschaft verpesteten. Solidarische Nachbar*innen und Genoss*innen wurden verhaftet. Die meisten der Räumungen zogen Gerichtsverfahren mit schweren Anschuldigungen nach sich, mit der Intention uns als Besetzer*innen einzuschüchtern, sowie uns psychologisch und ökonomisch zu schwächen. 

Wir verweisen hier besonders auf die letzte Räumung von Matrozou 45 im Jahr 2020, bei der die Cops eigene Anwälte beauftragten (einer von ihnen sogar Mitglied der damaligen Regierung), um die Anschuldigungen vor Gericht zu unterstützen. Das Gericht verurteilte einen unserer Genossen schließlich in erster Instanz zu 6,5 Jahren Gefängnis ohne Bewährung (!), wobei sich die Anklage lediglich auf 3 kleinere Vergehen stützte, die jedoch von einer großen medialen Kampagne des Staates begleitet wurden, bei der selbst der Premierminister Griechenlands öffentlich eine Anklage wegen "versuchten Mordes" forderte. Die Strafe ist bis zur Verhandlung am Berufungsgericht ausgesetzt. Es ist das erste Mal in der Geschichte Griechenlands, dass jemand ernsthaft bedroht ist, wegen Häuserbesetzungen ins Gefänis zu kommen, sowie das erste Mal überhaupt, dass jemand wegen eines kleineren Vergehens, das nicht als "Verbrechen" (Felony/Kakourgima) gewertet wird, ins Gefängnis käme. Das Berufungsgericht findet am 2. Dezember 2025 statt. Wir rufen international Hausbesetzer*innen und Anarchist*innen zu Solidaritätsaktionen zur politische Unterstützung auf.

Wir sind der Ansicht, dass dieses Manöver teil des Plans der Regierung ist, die Besetzer*innen Szene in Griechenland zu eliminieren, während gleichzeitig eine "Neue Realität" durch das neue Strafgesetz von 2024 geschaffen wird, die jede Form des Widerstands mit Gefängnis bestrafen soll. 

All die Gerichtsverfahren die wir erdulden mussten (Bisher 5 Stück), haben uns bereits über 10.000€ gekostet, die wir durch Soli-Events, sowie die ökonomische Unterstützung von Genoss*innen, Kollektiven und Individuen gesammelt haben. Zwei der fünf Gerichtsverfahren endeten mit einem Freispruch, doch die übrigen drei führten zu Verurteilungen und werden nun in der nächsthöheren Instanz verhandelt.

Nun sind wir mit dem Problem konfrontiert, dass wir die enormen Kosten der drei übrigen Gerichtsverfahren aufbringen müssen, die sich schätzungsweise auf 25.000€ belaufen. Darunter sind Gerichtskosten, Anwält*innen, sowie die Kosten im Falle einer endgültigen Verurteilung. Deshalb haben wir diese Kampagne gestartet, um Genoss*innen in Griechenland und Weltweit darüber zu informieren, dass jede Form der ökonomischen Hilfe und Solidarität gebraucht wird. Wir sind bereit, weitere Details über die Gerichtskosten und den Stand der Verfahren offenzulegen. Wir sind ebenso bereit, jede Initiative von Info- und Solievents über die Squats und die Repression von hier aus zu unterstützen.

Era el mes de marzo de 2017 cuando abrimos por primera vez la puerta del número 45 de la calle Matrozou y empezamos a reparar el edificio para que pudiera albergar nuestras luchas, deseos, necesidades y cuerpos. Y cuando unos meses después estos ya no cabían en un solo edificio, abrimos otras dos casas abandonados en el barrio de Koukaki, el 21 de la calle Panaitoliou y la Casa Azul (número 3 de la calle Arvali). Así se creó la Comunidad Okupa de Koukaki, en el centro de Atenas.

Desde entonces y hasta el 2020, estas 3 casas y la gente que vivíamos en ella fuimos una comunidad política que combinaba la lucha anarquista con la vida comunal. Las puertas de nuestras casas estuvieron siempre abiertas a quienes deseaban luchar contra la violencia y la injusticia del Estado, necesitaban refugio o deseaban utilizar sus estructuras públicas, y/o buscaban un modo de vida colectivo. También era un espacio político y social abierto y accesible a los habitantes de uno de los barrios más gentrificados de Atenas. La comunidad participaba en luchas del movimiento okupa y antifascista, en solidaridad con los prisioneros políticos, la lucha contra la violencia sexista, el patriarcado, el racismo, la explotación de la naturaleza, y contra la gentrificación del barrio y la privatización de la colina Filopapou de nuestro barrio. Además de las asambleas y actos políticos que acogía, en las casas funcionaban varias estructuras comunales, como una biblioteca de préstamo, baños y lavanderías públicas y un bazar de ropa gratuito. 

Nuestra posición y acción política fue la razón por la que nos enfrentamos varias veces a ataques incendiarios de grupos fascistas, así como a la represión del estado. Ésta segunda se produjo en forma de desalojos en tres oleadas, en 2018, 2019 y 2020, cuando la comunidad perdió finalmente los edificios que la acogían. En todas las ocasiones la comunidad presentó resistencia combativa a los ataques estatales e intentó reocupar los edificios. Las fuerzas represivas utilizaron balas de goma, granadas aturdidoras, violencia física y armas químicas en los edificios y en todo el barrio, en respuesta a nuestra resistencia. Los vecinos y compañeros que se solidarizaron también fueron atacados por la violencia estatal. La mayoría de los desalojos nos llevaron a los tribunales con multitud de acusaciones, con la intención de intimidarnos y agotarnos psicológica y económicamente. 

Debemos referirnos especialmente al último desalojo del edificio Matrozou en 2020, cuando, tras nuestra resistencia, los policías contrataron abogados (incluyendo un miembro del gobierno) para apoyar las acusaciones en el tribunal. El tribunal de primer grado condenó a nuestrxs compañerxs a 6,5 años de prisión sin suspensión, basado en 3 cargos de delito menor y tras una gran campaña mediática donde hasta el presidente de la república griega defendió públicamente la encarcelación de lxs detenidxs. En estos momentos, la sentencia fue recurrida y llevada a los tribunales superiores. Hasta entonces nuestrxs compañerxs se encuentran en libertad. Es la primera vez en la historia de Grecia que okupas corren el riesgo de ir a la cárcel, y la primera vez que los militantes políticos en general corren el riesgo de encarcelación sin ser acusados de delitos de caracter grave. El tribunal de apelación tendrá lugar el 2 de diciembre de 2025, y llamamos al movimiento okupa y anarquista internacional a la acción solidaria de apoyo político. 

Esta maniobra sirve al propósito del gobierno de eliminar el movimiento okupa en Grecia, cuando al mismo tiempo inaugura una "nueva realidad" - conectada con el Nuevo Código Penal, 2024 - donde cualquiera que resista a la violencia estatal puede ser encarcelado por cualquier cargo.

Por todos los casos judiciales por los que hemos pasado [que son 5 en número] los gastos ya pagados ascienden a más de 10.000 euros, que han sido cubiertos por eventos solidarios que hemos organizado, así como a través de la contribución solidaria de otros colectivos e individuos. Dos de de los cinco casos judiciales terminaron con una absolución, pero en los tres restantes si que ha habido condenas y han sido recurridos ante un tribunal superior. 

Nos enfrentamos ahora a cubrir los costes judiciales de los tres casos restantes, que calculamos que ascenderán a la enorme cantidad de 25.000 euros. Esto incluye las tasas judiciales, los honorarios de los abogados, así como los gastos judiciales en caso de condena definitiva. 

Por esta razón hemos creado esta campaña para informar a lxs compañerxs y colectivos en Grecia y en el extranjero, ya que todo tipo de contribución y solidaridad son importantes. Estamos disponibles para compartir más detalles sobre los gastos judiciales y/o el progreso de los casos. También estamos abiertos a apoyar y participar a distancia en cualquier iniciativa para organizar eventos informativos sobre las okupas y la represión estatal contra ellas.
